OMS 2012 DETAILS

Hopefully everyone out there is in the final stages to get their bargain bashers ready for the Scramble, cause it's in full swing as of June 6th. We will meet at 2511 N 2nd Street Rogers, AR 72756 at 9 am SHARP to get acquainted and go over the day's ride. Plans are to hit the road by 9:45 and start our journey into the Ozarks.

There have been some recent adjustments to the daily maps as well as the main hi-res map, so all links have been updated and now show the slight route changes. To aid in directions, I have created some route sheets that will be provided on day one along with a copy of the hi-res map.You can see the route sheets here and here.

There are quite a few gas station options from day to day, however there are a handful that only accept cash without any ATMs near. Be prepared.

If you have any questions or concerns shoot an email to hatchethairy@yahoo.com

ozark mountain scramble 2012

June is creeping up now, and so far this years build logs have already doubled! I couldn't be more stoked to see so many people ready to join in the shenanigans.

Now that the riding group is swelling at an enormous rate compared to last years, I would like to point out that you will need to be self sufficient at all times. Familiarize yourself with the maps and do your best to help out others that may stumble along the way. There will be specific route maps posted soon, along with specific meet times so everyone will know when and where to go. If you choose to leave at a different time or place that is up to you. Simply put, let's all just have fun riding old cheap motorcycles through the mountains.

weekdays bro

I know it's a bit unorthodox for the most part, but the Ozark Mountain Scramble will be held on 3 consecutive weekdays. There are a couple reasons for this, and I figure now is a good time for some explanation. First and foremost, this ensures a low pedestrian traffic count for everyone riding through the mountains. There is nothing more annoying than day after day of being held up by a band of rubber neckers when you could be dragging a knee/peg/spleen instead. If the run was held on a weekend, I can assure you the time spent cursing the driver in front of you would grow ten fold. Since this run ends on a Friday, that also leaves Saturday and Sunday to get back to your lives/home. This worked out great last year, and I'm sure will work great for many years to come. So there you have it, mark the days on your calender, and get your vacation time approved.

2012 NEED TO KNOW INFO

GENERAL INFORMATION:

This is not a race, and was created for street legal bikes only. We intend to ride all miles at a brisk pace, however we ask that you respect the road, locals, camp grounds, hotels, etc. There will be no chase truck, so make sure you are plenty prepared for your battle through the mountainous slab terrain. If you think your wrist pin is about to go, or a crank bearing has little life left in it, it is best to fix it now and spare yourself the catastrophic failure deep within the Ozarks. Keep in mind that all riders on this run will be flogging a machine no younger than 30 years old(see below)! We cannot stress enough, that you will need to be self sufficient at all times. Familiarize yourself with the map and do your best to help out others that may stumble along the way. There will be plenty of experiences we couldn’t possibly plan for, so enjoy what lies ahead.

RULES/MANIFESTO:

This run is geared towards those who challenge their wallets to a duel, and rise victorious. Those who stretch the dollar to its limits for the sole purpose of cheap thrills on a two wheeled freedom machine. If this doesn’t remotely sound like you, it is time to hit the back button on your browser. Below are the requirements needed to join the run.

* 1980 or older motorcycle
* spend less than a total of $1000 on the purchase, build and prep
* total displacement of motorcycle cannot exceed 750cc

COST:

We are proud to proclaim this ride has no entry fee, and we intend to keep it that way. If you went through the trouble to build and/or restore a bike back to a functional machine, then you have paid your dues already. The only cost to you will be fuel, lodging, and food/water. Simple as that.

WHERE:

The Ozark Mountains throughout the Northwest and Central regions of Arkansas. Check out the map for more details on exact locations.

WHEN:

June 6th-8th 2012. Luckily there is still plenty of time to get started on your build and/or tune ups.
